  • 1 lb beef strips (sirloin or ribeye)
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional)
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate beef strips in a mixture of soy sauce, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, and salt for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Sauté sliced onions in one tablespoon of vegetable oil until soft and caramelized. Set aside.
  3. In the same pan, heat two tablespoons of vegetable oil over high heat and stir-fry marinated beef until browned.
  4. Whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and cornstarch; pour over beef and simmer until thickened.
  5. Return sautéed onions to the pan; mix well and serve hot over rice or noodles.
