  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme (or ½ teaspoon dried)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 package of puff pastry (2 sheets, thawed)
  • ½ cup grated Gruyère cheese (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)

Instructions

  1. Caramelize the onions by heating olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and a pinch of salt; cook slowly for about 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground sausage with caramelized onions, thyme, salt, and pepper. Optionally stir in cheese and mustard.
  3. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
