  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley or 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease or line a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, garlic powder, onion powder (if using), salt, and cayenne pepper in a large bowl.
  3. Cut in cold cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Fold in shredded cheddar cheese gently.
  5. In another bowl, whisk buttermilk and egg until combined.
  6. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until just combined.
  7. Spoon dough into the prepared loaf pan in chunky layers.
  8. Bake for about 40–45 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Brush with melted butter mixed with garlic powder and parsley while still warm.
