Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ cup warm milk (about 110°F)
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Blue gel food coloring
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup crushed chocolate sandwich cookies
  • ¼ cup mini chocolate chips
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • ½ cup crushed chocolate cookies
  • Extra mini chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let sit until foamy (about 5 minutes). Stir in sugar, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix in flour and salt until combined. Knead in blue food coloring until evenly distributed. Let rise in a greased bowl for 1 to 1½ hours.
  2. Prepare the filling by mixing softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, crushed cookies, and mini chocolate chips until smooth.
  3. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread the filling evenly on top. Roll tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal rolls.
  4. Place rolls in a greased baking dish; let rise for another 30 to 45 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. For the cream cheese icing, beat together softened cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  6. Drizzle icing over warm rolls before serving.
