  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Chocolate chips (for topping)
  • Additional chopped nuts (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare an 8×8 inch square baking pan by lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine butter, sugar, salt, and water. Stir gently until melted.
  3. Allow the mixture to boil without stirring for about 10-15 minutes until it turns golden brown.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and half of the chopped nuts.
  5. Pour the hot mixture into the prepared pan and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  6. Cool at room temperature until set, or refrigerate for faster results. Optionally top with more nuts and flaked sea salt.
